Books in 2025 I started and did not finish
A Philosophy of Software Design
I got bored on this one. A lot of the focus is on OOP and lost me in places. I’ll try and finish this some day. I did the same with Mythical Man Month.
The Drowned World
Got 75% through this and did not want to finish it. All over the place and not really a dystopic book I cared for. A lot of focus on people doing stuff with no problems to solve or issues to fix.

PostgresSQL Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Good book! Just got tired of technical stuff and needed some palate cleansing.
Masters of the Maze
This lost me in literally chapter 2.

Goodbye to All That
Spent a LOT of time of his life in school. I was more interested in what he experienced during his time in the military and that doesn’t come until half way into the book.

Books in 2025 I started and DID finish
It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over
Zombie book recommended to me. Told from the perspective of a woman who’s slowly losing her humanity and then goes on an Odyssey. Weird, but was good.

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
Humble Brag - The Book. I like Murakami’s books and this was a way to get an inside look into what he’s like as a person. I found that we would never be friends. His constant faux self-deprecation while ruminating on how next level he is by running marathons got tiring. It also felt like his wife was just there to support him in his adventures? I don’t know, didn’t sit well with me. I also went into this wanting a book about running and it is that. However, the majority of it though is his mindset, how he works, what drives him, etc. Eh.

The Black Lizard
My first Edogawa Rampo book. I loved it. The way it was written felt like I was watching a detective show. The author puts in these asides to the reader throughout the story that were really endearing to me. Thoroughly enjoyed this and plan to read more!

Bad Luck and Trouble
Supposedly one of the best Reacher books. It was good! Junk food as always, but it was nice. Had the formula down pat -> Reacher doing whatever, in God knows where, gets alerted to a problem, assembles the team, beats the bad guy.

The Caves of Steel
Another detective book, this time, with robots! I didn’t know Asimov had made detective stories and there’s apparently more. I enjoyed this on, had some twists that I didn’t expect in it. I’ll be reading The Naked Sun Next.
